Learn the History of Kidney Disease

Just in time for Kidney Disease Awareness month (March) I'm excited to add The Body's Keeper by Paul Kimmel, MD to our Exemplar library! This newly published book is by the Mayo Clinic and is an in depth, easier read on the history of kidney disease and dialysis. I highly recommend that everyone on the team add it to their list of reading in this coming year to get a better understanding of how kidney disease and dialysis has evolved over the last 30+ years.

This books comes after another recent release, How to Make a Killing by Tom Mueller, also in our Exemplar library. Mueller also reviews the history of kidney disease and dialysis, but has a more political viewpoint as it compares patient mistreatment at the leading high volume dialysis facilities. For our team, this book offers a shorter read and may offer some insight in how we can make a difference in the lives of our dialysis patients.

Learning more about the work that we do and its history will help us a team stand out as well as make a more empathetic connection with our patients. Take time to read more about our industry and continue leading the way in a passionate and knowledgeable way.
